We all know that Masked Guy told Naruto that he transplanted the rinnegan in Nagato's head. I think that was a lie just to make Naruto fear him. You'd figure that if Masked Guy was in possession of a rinnegan in the first place he would use it himself. I think he was lying his @$$ off!
Also the rinnegan was awakened when Nagato was a kid, If it was awakened then how in the hell was it transplanted in the first place? This is why I come to the conclusion that an Uzumaki can awaken Rinnegan.
