Why Do Some People Hate Anime So Much?

Ok so basicallly, at school i have my little group of Otakus, (people who love anime just like me). And whenever i mention it, some of my other friends are like "oh why do you like anime, anime sucks." I dont know if all they know is naruto or Dragon ball Z, or some of the really American Anime shows, but thats not reallly anime. So can someone help me out? I dont get why people think anime is so bad. its
