What Do You Think Of Matt Smith As The Doctor?

I just started watching Doctor Who about two weeks ago and I love it. So far I am through most of season 4, and I fell in love with Doctors 9 and 10, and after a bit of research, I found that there is a sort of flame war over whether Smith is a good Doctor. Anyone care to give their opinion? Also, how does the new series compare to the classic series? I figure I should go back and watch them if I am to properly consider myself a 'whovian', so if you happen to know a website where I can watch
